Social Pattern Literacy in Action
Across history, new ways of organizing have changed what people can do together. Social Pattern Literacy helps you see these patterns and use them in a rapidly changing world.
Social Pattern Literacy in Action is supported action research, designed around your questions and goals. With our help, study your situation and its environment. Draw on our experience using AI to look for patterns. Act on your findings, then use the results to guide your next steps.
Develop your ability to
- Read emerging patterns. Notice new ways of organizing and working together.
- Choose a good fit. Match structures and processes to your purpose and situation.
- Build alliances of intention. Help independent groups and individuals act on a shared purpose.
- Learn through action. Use research and reflection to guide your steps as conditions change.

A possibility for the Midwest
Each era opens new possibilities for how people work together. Just like Scotland became a major center of the Industrial Revolution, the Midwest could become an early global center for new ways of organizing, leading by example. We can help you explore and build on the coherences that arise here.
We work with the whole person, drawing on research, experience, art and poetry, and learning with the body. We ground our work in specific places and try to learn from everyone.

Mary Ann Allison, MBA, PhD
Mary Ann is a social scientist and poet. She brings more than three decades of research and practical experience in seeing historical patterns and anticipating new social patterns before they become widely visible. Her experience spans global technology projects, award-winning research at New York University, and fieldwork in the United States and Ukraine.
“You make clear the patterns I know are there but can’t quite see. This helps me design collaborations that work with the deeper currents of social change, not against them.”
